I love a companion novel if it adds scenes we didn't have in the first book. Of course, I do want to read the major scenes from that book from this character's point of view. I don't want the author to skip over their first kiss for instance. This book gave me that and so much more. It delves into Lucas's past as well as his love story with Jacqueline. Since I wanted to know more about him after that reveal in the first book, I was happy to discover how much of his past was in this book. Since most of that part takes place in high school, he doesn't have the same maturity level that he does in college. The author did an amazing job writing from the point of view of him as a teen in comparison to him as a young man in his twenties. The secondary characters were also very memorable, especially Boyce. I enjoyed the progression of their friendship. I also loved the scenes with Landon's grandfather.

This book was just as compelling as Easy. I loved how it expanded Lucas's character and revealed how he became the person Jacqueline fell in love with in Easy.

Breakable is the retelling of Tammara Webber's fantastic book Easy, but this time we get Lucas/Landon's side of the story.

Being a huge fan of Easy, to say that I was beyond excited when I discovered that this book was being written is not a lie (a happy dance may have been involved).
And I have to say that I adored Breakable probably more so than Easy, and that's because of Lucas, his story was always so much more intriguing to me than Jacqueline's was, so to open the book and not only find that we get Easy from his point of view but we also get at the start of every chapter his past, after the heartbreaking events that took his Mom away from him and in a sense his childhood innocence which also left him with a world of guilt, we get a look into his life after the event that changed his and his Dad's lives forever and up to where we first meet him in Easy.

Punishing himself with alcohol and drugs, we see Lucas lose his sense of self, failing at school he just doesn't care, it doesn't help that after his Mom's death that his Dad closed himself off, and barely speaks to him, which makes Lucas believe even more that his Dad blames him for what happened to his Mom when he was thirteen.

After a downward spiral that lands him in jail, Charles a friend of his parents helps him to get back on his feet and to make something of himself, and it's through hard work and perseverance that he accomplishes just that, which ultimately brings him to the class where he notices Jacqueline for the first time, while she remains ignorant of his existence until the night she is almost raped, saved by Lucas she tentatively starts to let Lucas in, but will his past hold him back from moving forward with his life and find happiness with the first and only girl he's ever loved?

I love this trend that seems to be happening with the New Adult genre with the books being rewritten in the males point of view, I also seem to find them more enjoyable than the original story, one nitpicky thing I just wish that the epilogue was set much farther in the future than just six months, I wanted to know where Lucas and Jacqueline were in say ten years time and what they were up to, but that's just one little thing that doesn't affect the story in any way.

For those of you who were big fans of the first book, you definitely need to pick this book up, Tammara has written a story that far surpasses the first and will leave you clamoring for her next release.

I have to agree with the other reviews that this was not a re-telling of the story of Lucas and Jacqueline in "Easy." It was the story of how Lucas discovered that love is empowering. It was different to have the story unfold as alternating chapters of Lucas' past and present life. At first I didn't like it because it was confusing, but it made more sense as you continued reading why the author chose to write his story this way. Although the growing romance and friendship of Lucas and Jacqueline was at the forefront, I felt the story was more about Lucas' difficult journey to forgive himself and his father for the devastating event that changed their lives. Lucas was lucky to have Mr. Heller and his family step in at the right time and helped him become the best person he could be for himself, his father, and later for Jacqueline. I enjoyed this book immensely as I did with the first one, "Easy." I loved reading about Lucas' gradually growing love and desire for Jacqueline. After reading this book, you definitely get the picture that he wanted their relationship more than she did, which was unexpected because it is generally the other way around. Nevertheless, it was a great read!
I don’t remember what rating I gave book one....but I bought this book forever ago and never read it. That can’t be good. As I finally read this, I know what I didn’t like about book one— Jacqueline. She just wasn’t interesting. She was...flat. In book one, Lucas was confusing and aggravating, but book two explains all that. I liked him a lot more in book two.

Overall, there is no point to reading this book if you haven’t read book one. I wasn’t a fan of Jacqueline, but the story was interesting enough that I finished the copy. Certainly don’t feel a rush to read book three- maybe I’ll come back to it- but not compelled to do so.
